Life Expectancy: Kerala Leads Among Indian States

According to the 2023 life expectancy estimates, Kerala continues to rank first in the country with a high life expectancy of 75.1 years. This achievement is attributed to high literacy levels, a strong public healthcare system, comprehensive maternal and child health services, and sustained social development efforts. While states such as Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Delhi have demonstrated commendable performance, Kerala remains a national model in consistent and long-term health progress. At the same time, life expectancy levels ranging between 65–68 years in some states highlight the continuing health and social disparities across regions.
